Wasted Worry

Today’s email comes from my car. I am sitting outside of Boeden’s neuro-psychologist’s office. This is actually progress - on Monday I was sitting on the floor right outside her office. I didn’t expect Boeden to have any issues with his testing- since he worked with the same doctor just 4 years ago- and loved her. (I am obsessed with her- if anyone needs the name of a neuro-psychologist, please reach out to me!) But Boeden’s end of year school report was not what we expected….he is really struggling. We need to figure out how to help him, hence repeat testing. But I didn’t expect him to be so anxious this time around.

When will I learn that I will NEVER know the right time to worry?

Bensten got his wisdom teeth out last week. I was soooo worried. The meds they used to sedate him (Fentanyl and Versed) were the same meds they gave him when he was in a coma. And they needed to use such high dosages to keep his brain swelling down, they actually had to use Methadone for several weeks to bring him off. So the thought of reintroducing those meds made me very worried. In fact, I made Lance take the day off and come with us.

Bensten did amazing, the doc said he actually needed LESS meds than most patients.Go figure. Bensten then proceeded to feel virtually no pain as long as he was on Motrin. He didn’t even swell.

Wasted worry yet again.

I just love my people a lot, and emotions are sorta hard to micro-manage. If I had the energy, I would probably worry 24/7. That’s why being super busy helps keep me sane. And keeps me from driving my family insane!

So this week, our little bakery will keep busy and bake on Thursday as well as Monday (for 4th of July) **We will not be baking the following Thursday! I have had lots of muffin requests, so I am doing my best to offer at least one flavor a week. And our Coconut Pecan Chocolate Chip Scones are our original most popular item. If you haven’t tried them, there will be one in the combo box so you can give it a try and let me know what you think!! And the Golden Grahams Bars are not something I would usually offer. But I remember making them when I was a kid and we would vacation in Nantucket. They bring back such amazing memories. And Lance loves them. So I made them when Bensten had all his friends over a few weeks ago- and my fam keeps asking for more. They suggested I make them for you all.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Izzy turns 21 on Sunday. She is my kid that I often have to encourage to go have fun- she is very much an old soul. So I am not worried about the big 21 celebration- let’s hope I am right about this one!
